HEALTH-N-A-MINUTE

It only takes a minute to start getting rid of this. The minute is the time it takes to decide to put on your sneakers and get outside in the beautiful weather running or walking. Just imagine the five pounds here blowing off in the breeze.
Yes...it is that easy.

HEALTH-N-A-MINUTE

A picture of something we probably did as a child. We wanted to label the day with a happy one for someone else. It only took a moment.

As you live through your day, give the gift of a smile to someone. You ahve been given 24 hours of moments and just one can change a person's life, attitude or direction. Yes, that would be ENOUGH to create a happy day for someone. Enough is a precious gift we give to another. It is who we are. Right here. Right now. It will give joy and peace. And...it only took a moment.

HELP A FRIEND TO BE SAFE

Today the world fortunately has changed to the point where there is assistance for those who live in an abusive relationship. What can I do, we say to ourselves when we suspect or know that a friend male or female is unsafe in a relationship. Being a friend to him or her is your first step to be there and listen. Here are a
number of suggestions for emotional and physical safety.

- REASSURE your friend that they did not cause the beatings. A
battering partner learned to use violence as a way of
expressing anger or frustration long before meeting them.

- PHYSICAL SAFETY is the first priority. Beatings usually
get worse and more frequent as time goes on. Ignoring
a beating is dangerous. Explain this to your friend.

- Tell your friend they are NOT ALONE in their situation. Domestic
violence happens to many women and men in all income
and educational levels, all social classes, and all
religious and ethinic groups. It also happens in same
sex relationships.

- Explain to her that violence is NOT A SICKNESS; it is a
choice and a crime.

- Help your friend to make an emergency plan in advance.
For information on where to go in case of an emerency,
have them call the national hotline or a
local number.

- Your friend needs moral support. Help your friend find
the economical and physical assistance they need to live
free from assualt.

- If your friend is not ready to make the change or form
a plan, continue to BE A FRIEND. In doing so you enable
your friend to build a wall of confidence so that they
can make that decision of safety and go the opposite
way.

- If your friend is an immigrant who is sponsored by their
spouse, a hotline can refer them for legal help.

Thank you for your attention and sensitiviey to this issue. You can save a person's life by just being a friend who can ask the tough questions.

PIMP my life.....

isn't that a new sociallly acceptable term to glitz it up? Chelsea does add alot to Hillary's campaign. Look it up in the urban and suburban dictionary. As a parent of a teenager I have been educated as to the acceptance of such a term.."pimp". Now in my days....yes it meant....well we all know. Recently there was a television show about it pimping cars....making them look snazzy. "It doesn't mean what you think it means", is the typical response you can hear from todays teenager. Daniel Webster is no longer alive, and I'm not sure how much chrome they had in his days. I would though like the sensitivity factor be such that we are talking about inanimate objects.
When we use the word in association of wonderful people it can get confusing. So....can we decide what we want to use it for? Or, do we just throw it out there and hope that the "good" meaning of it will always prevail. The anchors comment ..... I must think of the good first. Maybe he just watched a rerun of the television show that talks about pimping our lives. Hmmmm. As my 21 year old son says.....no matter which way it is...it isn't a flattering term. SO, Mr. Anchorman, I would apologize and hope that the Clinton family will continue to smile with their success. What does this have to do with wellness? "What you think is what you say. What you say is what you do. What you do is who your are. Who you are is your destiny. Every day, think your way to your destiny." Deanette Schmidt. Are your words the way you want to look like? Go and make a bright and prosperous future for yourself. You deserve it.

HEALTH-N-A-MINUTE

February is traditionaly heart month. We think of our physical heart most often when we think of heart health. I trust that all of your regularly have our cholesterol and blood pressure checked. What about the other part of your heart, the unseen? There was a commercial on the Super Bowl that showed a woman at her computer and suddenly her heart burst out her chest leaving a hole and a tattered shirt. Her physical heart landed on the keypad! Suddenly, it sprouted legs and jumped off her desk and ran to her boss's office. There it jumped up on his desk with a sign reading "I Quit". Jumping down and running away the caption read..."Follow Your Heart". What an incredible depiction of a "healthy heart," the unseen part. What does your heart of hearts feel and do? Are you following your dreams, your deepest heart's desire? What makes your heart beat with a rhythm that only you can dance to? Take a moment in the quiet...take a minute each day. Listen to the beating of your heart of hearts...then take your ind, take your spirit, and take your body to dance into action. Come to the quiet and you willhear wht your heart is speaking. Feel the love it has for you.

HEALTH-N-A-MINUTE

Did you take a walk today? Yes, it takes more than a minute to do an aerobic walk, 20 minutes to be exact. However long you did walk, there is a minute way to maximize the total experience in your spirit, mind and body. Many of us might take our ipods, cds, or our voices to listen or sing a song while we pound the earth. We get in the rhythm of the music or spoken words of motivators dear to our hearts. It passes time and gives us some soul food. Here's a suggestion that can be added to your pleasures of a walk in the park.
Start with a deep breath raising your arms to the sky and back down maximizing the volume of air you take in and let out. As you start your pace keep your inner ears open, use your eyes to look at undiscovered nature even if it s a pebble or a single blade of grass. Listen to the harmonious sounds of nature. Listen to the miracle of every breath as your lungs expand and relax. Feel the muscles in your body stretch and take in all the rich nutrients you give them while walking. Smell the grass, the flowers or hear the crunch of snow under your feet. Look up into the beautiful sky bringing your total experience of living into the moment. Touch it, lifting your arms way up bringing in more rich oxygen into all the cells of your body. Wow...you've just detoxed your body of some unwanted carbon dioxide! The connection of your circulatory system and your respiratory system is responsible of resupplying all body cells with essential oxygen and removing the unwanted, potentially harmful CO2. Your 5 senses give the gift of knowing that everything about you and your world is special.
Put it all together...yes...we have a wonderful life. I'm glad you're here.

H2O day! One of the easiest ways to create health. The average adult body is approximately 80% water. Want to look younger? Drink water. Want to loose weight? Drink water. Want to clear your mind? Drink water. Fortunately we don't have to replace everyday the 40 liters of water that we consist of. We only need to drink approximately 2 liters. We can thank our body's amazing conservation and recycling system for that, i.e. blood plasma. So grab your favorite glass and drink to your health. Keeping fluid in your body helps you to keep fluid and flexible in all aspects of your life. Your brain, by the way, does contain a lot of water. What a good thinker you are!

15 Minutes of Your Time

Fifteen minutes of your time. What can you create with that? You can certainly create better health by doing some abdominal crunches, or you can jump start your car. In 3000 seconds, you can create your purpose in life. In the new year that is progressing, the question I pose is what did I do with that precious 3000 seconds to propel myself forward in living the life I want to live.

I mentioned jump starting your car as a possible activity needed to be done, especially in the cold weather some of us have. You have one dead battery and one juiced up one. Then there's the jumper cable. To do any good the two have to be connected. The new year is a great time to connect with those people who can be the jumper cable, the juiced up battery in a particular area of your life.

I just got off the phone with the one and only Jerry Hart of http://www.hartcreativemarketing.com/ and he juiced me up to create an efficient use of googling. He has a teleclass every Thursday evening on University of Masters, http://www.universityofmasters.com/. Being a new entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in my field, I have a passionate message to get out to the world about creating your own health and prosperity within and around yourself. Connecting with such a Master of internet marketing just created a clarity and knowledge base that has given the electrical spark to venture out in unknown territory for me with confidence, poise and purpose.

So what is your area you need some juice for. Take 15 minutes in a quiet space and ask yourself. There are people around you who love you and see the value you have to give to the world. When you see it...feel it deep inside...then do it. Smile now....you have just made the world a better place to live.
